Christmas Sewing

Not much Christmas sewing done this year. A pillow case and a mug rug! Love the wombat fabric!

Starburst

I finally finished the starburst mini with the left overs from my Pat Bravo fabric. This is a great pattern from canoe ridge creations,

Last Block Aurifil BOM

The last block is done. Now I am waiting for the setting instructions and I will hopefully put it together soon!
I have been working on my emu cross stitch and it actually looks like an emu. I love this.

A couple of finishes

I finished a cross stitch. It is not the one I had planned to finish. It is a freebie over at The crafty mummy. i love how it looks and would love to make it as a quilt.
This is a very old UFO I bought in Paducah when we lived in the states. We have been back for 5 years on New Years Eve. The fabric Stephanie Bradenburg. Her fabric can be purchased at fern Hill. I loved everything in this stall and wanted to buy it all. Now I need to put on a hanging sleeve and get it on the wall. Unfortunately I am working full time for anther week and a half so not likely to happen soon.

BOMs

Well I finished a few more of my BOMs. I am up to date with the Aurifil one but still behind on the vice versa!

PDF patterns are dangerous

I was trimming threads on my blue/green batik quilt ready to quilt when I got sick of it and bought a mini starburst pattern from canoe ridge creations and started that instead. It is too easy to get distracted and start new projects!
Now I have just got a quilt back from the quilter and am sewing the binding on that instead. I cant wait to finish it and hang it on the wall.

finish Along

I have decided I need to try and have some kind of focus on finishing some projects. I am going to try joining this finish along at The Littlest Thistle and see if it helps!!!
1. quilt cross table runner.
Finish Aurifil BOM
Quilt this one myself with flannel backing and no batting for a nice summer quilt.
Finish cross stitch I started about 8 years ago
Requilt this as I unpicked first attempt.
Finish this little cutie
Finish Vice Versa BOM I think that is enough for today!

Ready to be quilted

I have finished the quilt based on 25 half square triangles with Camille Roskelley. I used the details for the shuffle at LaVieEnRosie to make the blocks. I love it and the blocks are 16 inches so it is a good size. I am going to have this quilted.
I finished this one years ago and haven't done anything with it. Not sure if I should try quilting it myself as it is quite large. It is 9 patchtastic from Moda bakeshop years ago using a layer cake.

Table Runners

I seem to be addicted to making table runners! I made another modern maples. This time for my mum. I love this block and definitely want to make a quilt with it.
I love this. I think it is the first time I have sewn with Art Gallery fabrics. They are beautiful fabrics with a different feel to them. I also am a fan of Pat Bravo now. The runner is a test for the cross quilt I want to make. The colours do not look nearly as good in the picture as they do in real life. I only had 4 fat quarters of the Pat Bravo fabric which I bought at the last quilt show. I am not big on pretty fabrics for me to use, as much as I admire the things that others make with them but I loved this bundle. I will be checking out Art Gallery and Pat Bravo fabrics from now on. The pattern is from Fairy face designs and Ellison Lane quilts and is an old one. It is the across the sea quilt along which I have wanted to do for a while. It includes instructions for cutting from a layer cake so I can buy a layer cake of horizon by Kate Spain and make a quilt for ME.

BOMs

I finished Septembers block for the Aurifil BOM.
I also completed February and March in the Vice Versa BOM. Still a little behind. I cannot believe how long it took to make these blocks. The pattern instructions are very clear but I turned half square triangles around in pretty much every block and did not notice until there was a lot of unpicking to do. Maybe it is because I have been watching Supernatural while sewing and am not focused.

Nested Churn Dash....Done

I finally finished sewing the binding on my Nested Churn Dash mini. I decided to have a solid instead of the smallest churn dash and was not sure of this decision while sewing on the binding but now it is finished I am happy with it. It looks good on the TV cabinet!
I am working on my BOMs. These are the stars for the Aurifil BOM. They are so cute I made an extra. No idea what I will do with it.

Vice Versa BOM

Finally I have started my vice versa BOM. 8 months late but still better late than never!! I am using 15 different fat quarters instead of 5 colours. I am using the Kona sunset bundle I love so I think it will work.
This is Januarys blocks.

Aurifil BOM

Yay!! I got some sewing done. I have been working full time and have had the flu that has been going around so it has not been a good few weeks. I got this block done just before the end of the month but has taken me a few days to post it. I love how the blocks are turning out.

Just Because

One of my good friends in America, Miss Nancy sent me these lovelies in the mail. We call her Miss Nancy because there were 2 Nancys in the sewing group I was in. Nancy, Miss Nancy and 1 clicked and used to meet at each other houses to sew. Now we have all moved from St Louis so no more sewing together but Miss Nancy and I keep in touch. She has been to Australia a few times because one of her sons lives here. Anyway Nancy sent me a just because present recently and I love it. I love the zipper bag and I love that she made the felt accessories for me. I feel very spoilt.

27 July 2014

My parents have built and moved into a brand new house after living in the same house their entire married life until now. I am flying to Perth tomorrow and will finally see it. I really want to make things for the house but decided to not do too much until I see it. Mum told me she bought yellow bar stools so when I saw this fabric at the Sydney quilt show I knew I had to get it. I made these 2 place mats to take with me. I just used the fabric as it is perfect. I have nearly a metre of it so I can make some more things later.
I used black and white fat quarters I had for the back.

26 July 2014

Modern Maples

I finally finished my falling Maples runner made using the tutorial on Larks Crafts. Simple straight line quilting because everything else I tried didn't work.

24 July 2014

Another Mini for me

I loved this mini by Jeni Baker and I love Kate Spain so I decided to use her fabric to make a similar one for ME. I had a jelly roll which I have been saving but I have decided I am going to use it to make lots of fun projects. I modified this pattern so I could use a jelly roll. It finishes at 12 inches. Kate Spains new line Horizon is out in September and it looks fantastic so I am going to sew as much as possible before then so I can justify buying it. Sound like a plan!

10 July 2014

Sydney Quilt Show

I went to the Sydney Quilt show on Wednesday. It was a good show although smaller than usual. I didn't buy a lot as I have so many things planned with the things I have.
I bought some aida so I can finally start the quilty stitches sampler along at Little Miss Shabbys blog.
Couldn't reist this emu cross stitch even though I have a million to do.
Had to buy fabric.
Another mini I must make.

Aurifil BOM

Finished the July block of the Aurifil BOM. I love this block! You can see the tv in the corner. I have been watching Castle while sewing.
